Unité Mixte de Recherche Ecosystèmes insulaires océaniens (UMR- E.I.O.)

Depuis janvier 2012, le LMfait partie intégrante de l'Unité Mixte de Recherche sur les Ecosystèmes insulaires océaniens (UMR-241 E.I.O.).Les activités de recherche de l'UMR EIO sont centrées sur l’analyse des interactions entre l’homme et son environnement dans les écosystèmes insulaires océaniens.

L'UMR EIO regroupe des enseignants-chercheurs et des chercheurs de 4 organismes de recherche : l’Université de Polynésie française (UPF), l’Institut Français de Recherche pour l’exploitation de la Mer (Ifremer), l’Institut de Recherche pour le développement (IRD) et l’Institut Louis Malardé (ILM).

L’unité se subdivise en quatre équipes de recherche, focalisées sur les thématiques suivantes:

- l'approche systémique des ressources exploitées (SYREX) dont l'’objectif est de décrire et comprendre les effets des activités humaines et des changements globaux sur les interactions « organismes-environnement» dans une perspective d’exploitation durable des écosystèmes insulaires océanien;

-l'étude intégrée des métabolites secondaires (EIMS) dont les recherches sont focalisées sur les métabolites secondaires issus d'organismes marins ou terrestres, en ciblant des thématiques à caractère fondamental (systématique, biosynthèse, rôle dans l’environnement) ou appliqué (propriétés et activités) en vue de leur valorisation, pour le développement local polynésien et des pays du Sud;

-Les enjeux sanitaires dans les environnements insulaires (ESSENTIA), qui vise à constituer un fonds de connaissances pluridisciplinaires qui permettra, à terme, le développement d’outils analytiques performants dans le cadre de la constitution d’un réseau global de surveillance et de gestion des risques sanitaires s’exerçant vis-à-vis des cheptels exploités et des populations de Polynésie.

- la structuration des communautés: réponses aux forçage et biodiversité (FORDIV) qui répond à la fois à des objectifs d'ordre académique, en lien avec l'amélioration de notre compréhension du fonctionnement et de la réponse des écosystèmes insulaires, et des objectifs d'ordre méthodologique, visant à améliorer l'efficacité des dispositifs de suivi et de gestion de ces écosystèmes.

Enfin, ces thématiques seront reliées entre elle par une composante transversale "GEOS" s'appuyant sur les concepts de géosystèmes, de territoires et de géodiversité,  et dont l’intégration dans les études des relations Homme/Milieu, permettra de sortir des approches anthropocentristes et de repositionner l’Homme comme « simple » espèce façonnant des territoires et des écosystèmes.
 

Le GdR PHYCOTOX

Le GdR PHYCOTOX a pour but de favoriser les échanges entre chercheurs pour mieux étudier non seulement les micro-algues, leur écologie, leur diversité et biologie, mais aussi les toxines qu’elles produisent, l’impact au niveau des organismes marins et des écosystèmes, ainsi que les conséquences potentielles aux niveaux sanitaire et socioéconomique. L'objectif du GdR PHYCOTOX est donc de fédérer ces différentes unités en un réseau structuré de compétences diversifiées et d'approches complémentaires. Une des missions principales de ce regroupement sera de faciliter la pluridisciplinarité des approches, permettant ainsi de promouvoir la qualité et l'originalité des recherches sur les microalgues toxiques et les phycotoxines en France et ses collectivités ultramarines.
 

PACE-NEt+

A travers le projet PACE-NET+, l'Union européenne, qui entretient une relation étroite de longue date avecla zone Pacifique, vise à renforcer le dialogue avec cette dernière en:


- Soutenant les stratégies politiques sur les questions de Science, de Technologieetd'Innovation ;
- Renforçant la coopération sur les défis sociétaux majeurs ;

- Encourageant la coordination des actions bi-régionales en favorisant la mise en œuvre d'actions communes ;
- Renforçant la coopération surles questions d'Innovation, en aidant à combler le fossé entre les secteurs publics et privés ;
-et renforçant les partenariats de Recherche, à travers la promotion du programme Horizon2020 et d'autres programmes au sein de la communauté scientifique dans le pacifique, et la communication d’opportunités de collaborations pour les chercheurs européens.
 

GOPS

Le GOPS est un observatoire de recherche ou « consortium d'observatoires existants ou en devenir » qui permettra de renforcer la mutualisation des moyens entre ses membres en incluant l'ensemble des dispositifs existants. Le GOPS a pour vocation de répondre à des questions scientifiques d'échelle globale et régionale, en se basant sur l'observation et le suivi à long terme de l'environnement et des écosystèmes, mais pouvant avoir un impact au niveau local.
     

 

 

                   
 

Depuis 2007, le Dr Taiana Darius intervient à titre d’expert auprès de l’Agence Internationale de l’Energie Atomique (AIEA) qui milite, au sein de la zone  Asie-Pacifique, pour une standardisation inter-laboratoire des méthodes de détection et de dosage de contaminants alimentaires (toxines,métaux lourds, …) utilisant des radiotraceurs. 

Depuis novembre 2013, le Dr Mireille Chinain intervient en tant qu’expert auprès de l’Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire de l'alimentation, de l'environnement et du travail (ANSES) , dans le Groupe de Travail « Ciguatoxines ». Elle intervient également à titre d'expert aurpès de l'AIEA depuis 2014.

Depuis 2015, les Drs Mireille Chinain et Clémence Gatti interviennent à titre d'experts auprès de l'Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC) dans le cadre de "l'IOC/IPHAB Global Ciguatera Strategy 2015-2019" visant à uniformiser et renforcer la Recherche sur la Ciguatéra et la gestion du risque toxique à l'échelle internationale.
